The best part about "Shop with a Cop" for the police officers who put on the annual charity event is the transformations they see in the children who participate. "When some of these kids show up, they're scared," said Lt. Keith Flores of the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office. "They've seen men and women in uniform take family members away or they've been told we are the bad guys. But that night is just filled with fun. We've essentially bridged that gap as a byproduct of this event."
