    The United States Department of Justice's Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) said on its website, "The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications."

    Meijer is reminding customers that this coming weekend is the perfect time to clear out medicine cabinets and drawers of unused and expired medications. As part of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 26, the Midwest retailer expects its pharmacies to help properly dispose of more than 8,000 pounds of forgotten, potentially-harmful medications.
