    Many people have old prescription drugs taking up space in medicine cabinets, but those drugs can be dangerous to keep around. Meijer stores across Michigan have launched a drug take back program, meaning shoppers will see locked boxes at every Meijer Pharmacy in the state. You can now drop off your medications during regular pharmacy hours with no questions asked, without needing to talk to a pharmacist.

    Getting rid of any unused, unwanted or expired medications is now easier, thanks to Meijer's drug take-back program. The company has kiosks for customers to properly dispose of medications for free. There is a kiosk in all 241 Meijer supercenters across the Midwest.

    The largest tenant in Beaumont hospital’s Woodward Corners development at 13 Mile and Woodward in Royal Oak is a new concept for retail giant Meijer. Called Woodward Corner Market, the 40,000-square-foot store will offer groceries without the other consumer merchandise found in Meier superstores, said Peter Heinz, director of strategic growth for Meijer. “Our focus is on local value and fresh” food, he said. “We’ll have about 20,000 items in the store. “

    Neighbors have known for a while that restaurants, a grocery store and more are soon coming to the corner of 13 Mile and Woodward. Thursday Beaumont Health officials announced which retailers will be setting up shop. Meijer snagged the coveted grocery store spot, and will be operating the 40,000-square-foot space as Woodward Corner Market. Woodward Corner Market will feature a vast assortment of fresh food, local, artisan groceries, and Meijer and national brand products at low prices.

    Meijer Stores LP has begun hiring more than 900 workers for its new stores in Avon, Mentor and Stow. On Jan. 9, the company announced its online job portal is open for applicants. The three stores are under construction now and will open in spring, expanding Meijer’s presence in northern Ohio. “Foundations are set, floors are poured and the walls are up at each of our new northeast Ohio stores," said Regional Vice President Tom Wilson. "So every day, we’re a little bit closer to opening our first three locations in Greater Cleveland.
