GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Meijer announced today that it will open a new 155,000-square-foot supercenter in Fort Wayne, Ind. on May 12.
“Local residents and new customers have been incredibly welcoming every time we open a store in Fort Wayne,” said Maureen Mitchell, Regional Vice President at Meijer. “Over the last 2 years, our store teams have helped families meet unprecedented challenges by providing fresh grocery options and supporting their pharmacy needs, so we look forward to opening the doors for our new neighbors.”
While weekly Meijer sales at the new location begin when doors open on May 12, the supercenter will also feature special promotions and events following opening day.
Mitchell said the supercenter will feature grocery, fresh produce, bakery, meat, and deli, as well as a floral area and garden center. Other departments will include pharmacy, pets, electronics, toys, sports, and apparel. Additionally, a Meijer Express gas station adjacent to the new store will open on April 14.
Meijer has invested heavily in Indiana since opening its first store in 1994. The new Fort Wayne store on Dupont Road will be the 41st Meijer store in the state. Additionally, the retailer employs nearly 8,000 team members statewide and maintains a manufacturing facility in Middlebury.
There are still select job openings for the new Meijer supercenter. The hourly positions will be part- and full-time across a wide array of skill sets, but ideal candidates will possess a desire to develop as part of the Meijer team and provide exceptional customer service. Interested candidates can begin the hiring process by applying online at https://jobs.meijer.com/stores. Enter “Dupont” in the location search field and click search. Details for hourly and full-time positions are outlined within the job postings.
More details will be confirmed prior to opening day.
